There is a shortage of computers available for students. There is a room filled with computers on the second floor of the library and it is often vacant. Please make this room accessible to students, the lines to get onto a computer are ridiculous.
I understand your frustration with waiting in line for a computer. Indeed, we have a very busy Library, with not enough computers to go around at busy times. The room to which you refer is used for workshops given by librarians to students. During the early part of each semester, the room is heavily used for orientations and workshops. The room might appear unused in between the classes, but it is too short a period to open it for student use.
The room will be available as a computer room again soon when the orientation schedule winds down. In the meantime, here are some suggestions I hope will help you access a computer. First, if you just need to quickly check email or print assignments, try the Express Workstations near the printers. Or, you can borrow a laptop for up to 6 hours from the Circulation Desk. Finally, the computers in LB-203 will be available in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience. We are doing the best we can with our limited resources to have enough computers to cover student needs and the Library’s considerable workshop schedule.
