What would really help solve many of the noise problems in the library would be having group study rooms freely available. I find that most of the noise generated is actually productive and with regards to group work. The orange zones should not be meant for group work as naturally people will talk louder to get their message across when others around are whispering.
Therefore I suggest that the library build/convert more group study rooms, similar to those in the MB building, that are available freely without appointments.
Thank you for your suggestion. You may have already noticed, but this fall the Webster Library has a pilot project to unlock some of its group study rooms. For more information, please read the What’s New announcement.
