Student offers support

The downtown (Webster) library during the weekends is impossible to study in.
Although the sections are noted as blue or orange, during midterms students
do not respect the noise level. The orange zones sound like a cafeteria. I generally avoid the library for this reason, but when I have to come here to
conduct research it is absolutely unbearable. This situation has been the
case for at least the past 2 years. I understand that the library staff isn’t
always available to deal with noise complaints. I would like to know what
should students do in order for noise complaints to be heard and to ensure
that library staff obtain the support that they need, rather than be blamed for all the noise?

Thank you very much for your email.  It is encouraging to hear a student offer us support in dealing with this problem.  I suggest that you write again to the Suggestion Box and include your coordinates so that we can contact you directly.

    I totally agree,

even during normal weekdays.Espacially for the new section 3 rd floor where it is a blue zone( silent zone).I don’t understand why it is that some don’t go to the quiet talking zones when they have to talk!I know that there are not alot of staff to supervise, but it is needed at this point to add staff or whatever that can help

Students are disrespectful, they laugh and speak out loud, whisper continuously and are very annoying to be around. The library is supposed to be a quiet place where we can study, especially the blue zone! I understand that staff members cannot always be present but I believe this problem should be solved somehow because if we cant study at the library because its noisy, whats next? Please try to assign staff members to check up on the blue zone once in a while because its mid term season and we cannot afford to stress over where to study because of rude disrespectful students. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope this matter will be solve as soon as possible.
