Hi,
It would be great if you had computers that ran linux at the Vanier Library. For some computer science students, it is more convenient to come to vanier
library to study, and access to linux would help tremendously.
Thank You
Thank you for your question! I asked the Library Systems Office to help me answer it and here is what they have to say:
While the Libraries do not currently offer or support any Linux labs, ENCS offers remote access to some Linux servers that you could connect to from the library using a portable application: http://www.encs.concordia.ca/helpdesk/access/encs_host_list.html
You can obtain a portable SSH client here (be sure to download only putty.exe, not the installer): http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
If you’d like to run X (graphical) applications, you’ll need a portable X server as well: http://www.scrc.umanitoba.ca/doc/tutorial/T19_3a_xmingputty.htm
Although unsupported, you may find these links useful. Hope that helps.
