Debit or credit for DPrint

You wrote:

Would it be possible to load money onto your student card to use for printing by using a debit card? I never have any cash (and I know that I am not the only
one).

I am specifically speaking about the Loyola campus as I do not use the downtown campus.

Is there another way to load my card that I am not familiar with?

Thank you.

You can use debit or credit to add money to your dPrint account at any DPrint Service Counter.  At Loyola there is one in the Bookstore (CJ Building).

Thanks for the great question.

Noisy loader in the Vanier Library

I am working in the Loyola library, and I cannot Begin to explain to you the excruciatingly annoying noise the copy card machine for printing makes- it  sounds like it’s screaming when a hapless student is just trying to print something (main floor). This is absolutely ridiculous not to mention frustrating beyond belief. The machines downtown are quiet- why must we suffer here?

If this simple thing could be looked into, we would be most grateful.

Thank you for your message.  I am assuming that you are referring to the DPrint Loader, that is situated next to the Circulation Desk at the Vanier Library.  You are right, the noises from that machine can be startling and annoying sometimes.  The machine beeps loudly when the user has not followed through in completing the transaction.

The downtown machines make the same noises as the ones at Loyola.  However, they are not in the Library!  That’s why you have not heard them.  🙂  We have had several complaints from downtown students because the old debit card dispenser was not in the Webster Library, but down on the main floor of the LB building.  I think that the occasional noise from the loader at the Vanier Library is a fair price to pay in order to have the convenience of the loader in the Library.

I suggest that you sit away from the DPrint Loader if its noises distract you.

Debit card machines and kudos for pilot project

Can you PLEASE put the card machine for printing UPSTAIRS in the library? It is so inconvenient to have it downstairs.

Also, I want to praise you on the pilot project for study rooms- I am very pleased with this as it is extremely helpful to be able to use a room at the drop of a hat. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your comments.  First off, regarding the debit card machine, you are right, it is less convenient to have to run downstairs to add money to your card.  However, the Library does not own or operate the machines where you can buy debit cards for copying or printing. They are operated by Printing Services. So it makes sense for the machines to be near the Digital Store, where their staff can help if any problems arise with the machines. The debit card machine  also needs to be near Security, for obvious reasons.

As for the group study room pilot project, it is good to know that it is being well-received by students.  Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Debit cards for printing and copying

Would it be possible to put a print-card machine in the library proper? It makes sense to have one near the main floor photocopiers, but having one near the library’s computer bank would be better than running downstairs.

While I agree that it is less convenient to have to run downstairs to add money to your card, the Library does not own or operate the machines where you can buy debit cards for copying or printing. Debit card dispensers

Hi, I have been at Concordia for five years. In all my five years, whenever I was printing something and ran out of change I had to go downstairs to put change on my debit card. I am not sure but at the Vanier Library, the debit card machine is inside the library. Would it be posssible to have the debit card machine inside the library, preferably in a place where it will not bother people, like next to the printers on the third floor.

I agree that a machine right inside the library makes all kinds of sense. However, the dispensers are located in places where security guards can monitor them. The security post at Vanier is inside the library, whereas the post at Webster is down in the lobby near the security booth and the Digital Store. This explains the placement.
